Well technically the Pakistan government only banned access from inside Pakistan, and ordered Pakistani ISPs to block access. Nothing terribly new there. Someone at Pakistan Telecom pressed the wrong button and as a result asked your ISP to block your access. Being trusting souls they automatically did so, and the mistake spread around the world.
It's less "sledgehammer to crack a nut", more "you were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off".
And pretty pointless. Will they also block Revver, Daily Motion etc, and any website showing anything offensive?
