Top of the publishing pops (almost) - lucky no7

Nice surprise today: Si Alhir (an active and supportive member of this blog's community) shared with me an email he'd received telling him FasterFuture is ranked No7, globally, for publishing by BlogRank.

BlogRank claims its algorithms are better than anyone's etc etc. If you want to know more about the methodology try here.

What I should point out is that it only tracks 20,000 blogs at the moment. I'm sure there are plenty of worthy publishing blogs which should be appearing. Scott Karp's Publishing2.0 springs immediately to mind.

Anyway - we'll be happy with the No7 spot for now. Thank you magic algorithm.

Still happier with a personal recommendation from one person who cares to another one that also cares though, to be honest ;-)

I owe it all to you - seriously.

As this blog teeters on the brink of a 100 ranking on Technorati (it was 99 last time I looked... hoping the trend is up!) I'm thinking of suitable ways to celebrate this with you. Every link here and every visit has contributed to that ranking - so it's fair and right that you share in this small success.
The best way I can think of is to compile one huge list of links-out to those who have linked here.
Technorati tracks some of this, google some more. But some (eg) I just may miss.
And at the top of the list I want to place the blogs and sites that include fasterfuture on their blogroll or list of recommended links in any way.
I want to make sure I haven't missed you and get the opportunity to return the favour in my own 'recommended blogs' list (see left column).
I work on the theory that if you're interested, you're likely to be interesting.
So if that's you, don't be shy, please add a link in the comments below.
And if you've linked here in any other way, share this, too.
Many thanks.

I'm now collaborating with Stowe Boyd at /message

I'm pleased to share that I've become a contributing blogger at Stowe Boyd's /message.
Stowe and I have met before (in London) and followed each other's work for some time.
But it was after seeing me present at WidgetWebExpo that he asked me to join in at /message.

You can read my first contribution here. It's titled Twitter Isn't About Conversation, It's About Forming Groups.

Stowe's a legend and I'm genuinely delighted to collaborate with him (and a handful of others - look out for their contributions, too) over at /message.

This doesn't mean this is the end of Faster Future - far from it. It simply means that from time to time I'll invite you to join in the conversation at another url. Hope you'll join in?

Faster Future - and your part in its success

Just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has visited, contributed to, linked to or shared this blog and its ideas and conversations in any way. We've done a lot together, and particularly in the last month.
Visitor numbers were up over 150% year-on-year (not the greatest measure, I know) and Technorati has just ranked us at 77,358 among blogs globally - the first time I've spotted fasterfuture in the top 100K!.
So congrats to us all, the community of purpose that is fasterfuture. Blogs may start from one place but they are taken to many, and the thoughts are shaped by many, the value is shared among many.
If fasterfuture is seeing some positive growth - then it is yours to revel in.

FasterFuture a year on... and here comes Blyk

Saturday marked the first anniversary of this blog. It's been an extraordinary journey and, in many ways, I feel it's only just beginning.

The biggest lesson I've learned is the huge emerging value networks of shared interest create.
I'll be speaking about that at the 'Mobinar' I'm hosting for emap people (and invited 'outsiders') tomorrow.

The event is part inspiration/part perspiration, in that I've got some great speakers (Tomi Ahonen and Jonathan Macdonald) to get the ideas flowing - and a workshop to help forge the ideas into something we could get excited about. If you're coming - I'm looking forward to seeing you. If you aren't, I'll post more about it later in the week.(There are plans for video, too).

Talking of Jonathan Macdonald (he's from Blyk), Blyk launches 'to the press' today. Best of luck to them - it's a hugely disruptive mobile model that just might take the world's breath away. Hold yours.

The rate of change is so rapid it's difficult for one person to keep up to speed. Let's pool our thoughts, share our reactions and, who knows, even reach some shared conclusions worth arriving at?
