The rate of change is so rapid it's difficult for one person to keep up to speed. Let's pool our thoughts, share our reactions and, who knows, even reach some shared conclusions worth arriving at?

ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm biased as my father's a teacher, but I always felt that education was there so that when you finish that, you get to do fun things, rather than some drudgery form of paper or burger flipping.
ReplyDeleteEducation equates to freedom - that's why children in developing nations will walk miles every day to learn. But in most developed countries kids already have access to tv, xbox etc, and don't understand the potential.
So I'd say that if we're to really create a vibrant world of UGC etc, education is essential.
Only very lucky people can dance well without being trained.
I guess the point is that for most people it ain't a dance, more of a forced march. Too often we're being taught to march in one direction and as fast as we can.

Yes - or that for most people it is a forced march with an illusory end point when it should be dancing (and music making) along the way. Or art for arts sake. But unfortunately that's life - if most people don't knuckle down to the illusion there will be no room for us parasites who just like to dance ...
